Music was an important part of Tom’s life. He was immensely knowledgeable about popular music, and very eclectic in his tastes, and toyed with DJ-ing while creating playlists and compilation tapes for family and friends, and trying unsuccessfully to broaden his parents’ horizons. He brought this interest into his travel work, devising playlists for many of the countries he visited.
His playlists have long since disappeared from the Lonely Planet website. Archive versions of the Madagascar and Berlin playlists can be found here:
